La Ventana Classic Clinics January 15-22, 2012
Check out the great clinics offered by pro riders in support of the 7th
Annual La Ventana Classic Fundraiser. From Freestyle to SUP, Kite, and Windsurf
Racing to Strapless Riding, improve your riding while helping out a great
cause. Clinic days/times/locations will be posted no later than Sat, Jan
14 based on most recent forecast at Clinics will run Jan 15-22 with
majority running the 15 - 18 before the main event starts…
SUP Performance Paddle Clinic with Candice Appleby (the #1 woman SUP
racer in the world) and Anthony Vela (Top 10 men’s SUP racers in the
world): Performance Paddling is brought to you by Quickblade Paddles and
SUP Mexico. Candice Appleby and Anthony Vela use their years of paddling
experience to show you how to train harder, paddle faster, and have more
fun. For those paddlers that are looking to quickly expand their knowledge
of various types of stand up paddling, Performance Paddling can help in all
areas of SUP; flat-water, open ocean, downwind, white water, and in the
surf . This is a one day clinic that will be held on a light wind morning at the
event beach between Jan 19-22. Cost is $128 USD per person.
Two day Kite course racing clinic with Adam Koch and Team Fluid: Learn to
race or improve your game - this clinic is taught by the former world champion
of course racing - any questions? Cost is $203. Minimum 4 people, maximum 12
people. We will post the final decision for clinic location, date and meeting
time based on the forecast the evening of Saturday, January 15 on this
page.
Surf/Strapless Clinic at Coast with John Bonetti of RRD and Mark2Dog/Baja
Joes/North: Head to the coast and experience a different part of Baja just
2 hours away from La Ventana. Get schooled and tips to help you in the surf and
your strapless board skills. If forecast is not good for any day between January
15-18, the clinic will be held somewhere in La Ventana with ‘extras’ to make
good for not going to coast. Cost is $103 USD per person. Minimum 4 people,
maximum 12 people. Price includes transportation, snack bar food and drinks.
: All Day Girls Clinic at Isla Cerralvo with Laura Maher/Slingshot and Marie
Leclerc/Baja Joes/North: Girls of all levels welcome but if you can’t go upwind,
you have to return in one of the boats! Spend a day at Isla Cerralvo, the
starting point of the 11.5 mile crossing. At the end you’ll do a dry run of the
crossing and finish the day with Happy Hour at Baja Joe’s. Get tips from the
pros and try out the new 2012 gear from Slingshot and North. Cost is $103 USD
per person. Minimum 4 people. Price includes transportation, snack bar food and
drinks.
Freestyle Kite Clinic with Bridge of Gods 2012 Winner John Perry/Airush and
Dave Tyburski/Airush: Spend a day with Airush team rider John Perry and one of
the first pro riders now doing R& D for Airush, Dave “Tybo” Tyburski. Learn
the secrets of going big and doing unhooked tricks - teaching seminar and
practice session with coaching. Cost is $103 USD per person
Intro to SUP Clinic - new to the sport? Want to paddle flat water
and learn the 5 basic turns, stroke technique, and try a variety of boards? This
is the clinic for you!! 3 hours of Instruction and practice - Includes a wide
variety of boards and paddles to try, wetsuit, great instruction from SUP BC 's
expert team certified by Paddle Canada, tips on gear selection,
refreshments, and fun!! Cost is $53 USD per person
SUP Surf Clinic: Learn the basics of Stand Up Paddle Surfing with
an SUP. This clinic is taught by Mike Pilgrim of SurfCraft SUP. It is for riders
already comfortable paddling flatwater. Travel with us to the Pacific side
of Baja and learn wave catching techniques, whitewater management skills, and
how to use the paddle to crank turns. Includes board, paddle, transport,
lunch and refreshments, and great individual coaching. Cost is $103 USD per
person
Windsurf Jibe and Trick Clinic with Wyatt Miller/Naish and Tyson Poor/JP-Neil
Pryde: Learn jibes, race jibes, duck jibes, and tactics to Beat Kiters in the
Classic and more at this one day clinic- Find out how these Pro Windsurf guys
make it look so easy!! Cost is $103 USD per person
